There are dedicated vehicle mounting docks available for most rugged computers that take advantage of reinforced anchor points on the device to lock the computer safely in the dock.  Power and external antenna connectors ensure that the computer us fully useable in the vehicle.  Vehicle-specific mounting equipment is available to safely mount rugged computers for in-vehicle use.  Make sure that the equipment you are using is airbag safe.  Standard laptops might work for occasional in-vehicle use, but for dedicated vehicle use you need to use a rugged mobile computer.
