| What does a rugged computer do that a typical laptop doesn’t? | | Print | |

Other than being rugged, these computers are designed to be truly mobile, with a wide range of embedded wireless network options. Wireless broadband, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS are all available in most models. Another option is touch screen capability. This allows the user to operate many applications using a stylus or finger touch. A third area is sunlight readability. Most laptop screens are difficult or impossible to read in daylight. Rugged mobile computers have brighter screens, or screens that reflect back sunlight to make the screen visible even in direct sunlight. |
